About

Mackenzie Morrow is an up-and-coming artist from South Carolina who encompasses a myriad of unique and versatile sounds, and has not limited herself to one particular genre. She takes a unique perspective on this topic in stating “I believe that feelings should be expressed in whatever form they choose, free from the musical restrictions of genres.”

Morrow is influenced by artists ranging from Aly & AJ, Fletcher, MGK, Avril Lavigne, Christina Perri to Evanescence to Kelly Clarkson. When discussing musical goals, she states “I write about whatever it is that I’m dealing with, and I share that because I know I’m not the only one going through it. I hope that sharing my experiences can encourage others and remind them that they are not alone. There have been plenty of songs by other artists that have helped me get through life, and I want to pay that forward with my own music.”

Morrow plays the piano and cello in addition to vocals, but she feels her main instrument is her emotions. While she started out as an instrumentalist at a young age, songwriting is what Mackenzie holds closest to her heart. Songwriting most accurately embodies who she is as a person and an artist.

Since Mackenzie’s last release in 2019, she has been working on developing her sound and writing abilities, which has led her to become the artist she is today. During this time, Mackenzie has been working on her new project, Black Butterfly , and is excited to share it with everyone in the near future. This album explores topics such as mental health, love, relationships, emotional abuse, faith, feeling like an outcast, and more. Mackenzie’s goal is to have her music resonate with people by saying things in her music that people may be too afraid to say otherwise. In her new project, Mackenzie has fused together elements of pop, electronic, hip hop, and punk. Be on the lookout for Black Butterfly coming soon!
